Body Positivity Isn’t Promoting Obesity

Body positive is a huge thing in my life. I am constantly trying to practice what I preach, and I am definitely constantly preaching it. I feel that every time someone gets even .5% more comfortable in their own skin they deserve a lap around a track holding a rainbow flag and a slow-mo freeze frame with their victorious fist in the air. So when I was confronted with the idea that someone who is obese is promoting body positivity is also, by default, promoting obesity, I had to really think about if that was true. I sat down with my thoughts, I walked with them, I talked them out, and I came to a conclusion. And now I bring them to you, in the form of  a podcast. Please enjoy.

In this episode I talk about:

  • Why body love is a huge obstacle to self-love
  • Why body positivity isn’t just for fat white women
  • What sharing proud pictures of obese people actually does
  • Why body positivity doesn’t automatically equal promoting obesity
